Google Photos has rolled out major AI-driven features and interface redesigns, drastically changing how you edit, organize, and interact with your memories. The latest updates integrate advanced artificial intelligence, like Gemini and Veo 2, directly into your photo library.

🤖 Gemini Spark & Conversational AI Editing

For eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US, India, and Brazil, you can now connect your photo library directly to the Gemini app. This unlocks conversational editing through Gemini Spark:

• Single-Prompt Fixes: You can select, brighten, and curate shots using a single text or voice prompt.
• Complex Background Removal: Use conversational requests like "Find all my vacation selfies, erase the background crowds, and center me in every shot" to let AI handle the heavy lifting without manually adjusting sliders.
• Cross-App Planning: You can present a photo of a concert flyer to Gemini and ask it to "Check my calendar for conflicts with that concert flyer, then get it scheduled".

👗 Digital Wardrobe & Virtual Styling

Google Photos has added an AI-driven Wardrobe feature. It automatically catalogs and analyzes the clothing in your photo history to curate a digital closet, allowing you to virtually style and try on new looks using your existing photographs.

🎬 Photo-to-Video Animation

Powered by Google's advanced Veo 2 AI model, the new "Photo to Video" tool transforms static images into six-second animated clips. You can apply settings like "Subtle movements" or "I'm feeling lucky" to add realistic, gentle motion to standard photos.

🎨 Vintage Moods, Upgraded Markup, and Remixes

• Moods Styles: Instantly give your images a nostalgic aesthetic using AI styles that adapt to individual photos—including 35mm film and 2000s digicam filters.
• Redact Pen & Markup: The markup tool includes a redact pen to blur sensitive information (like account numbers or private text on documents), customized thickness sliders, and new font sets.
• Remix Templates: 15 new Remix templates allow you to instantly turn standard memories into red carpet moments, photo booth styles, or customized birthday cards.

📱 Material 3 Expressive Interface Redesign

The user interface has received a Material 3 Expressive redesign, aiming for a cleaner, modern look:

• Quick Organization: The old Lens shortcut at the bottom is replaced with a fast "Add to" button, letting you send photos directly to archives, albums, or your Locked Folder.
• Simplified Layout: Metadata and photo information are now tucked into a clean three-dot menu, giving your actual photos a light, high-pop background that emphasizes your pictures.
